In 2015 we received a grant to build a large vegetable garden in our playground. The grant included a worm farm, compost bin, seedlings, children’s gardening tools and gum boots for all of the children to wear while helping in the vegie garden. The garden will give the children an opportunity to become socially responsible and show respect for their environment, as they learn about growing, caring and harvesting their own food, which encourages positive healthy eating behaviours.

We have also recently purchased some colour coded recycling bins for the preschool this gives the children more of an understanding of why and how we recycle different items. They also enjoy emptying the bins into the corresponding bins outside.

​Recycled materials are a huge part of our sustainable program and environment. We upcycle furniture, equipment and tools where possible – like our music wall which was constructed using recycled items from within the preschool.
